My Lagonda for sale
Dear all
Welcome to this webpage, dedicated to my Aston Martin Lagonda, now for sale at 15 500 GBP.
You will find a couple of pics of my Aston Lagonda and some more info.
About the car:
Once again, it is a very nice Lagonda, reliable and maintained, original, with very nice color combination. It is not a concourse winner but for sure not a neglected example. I looked for a Lagonda for many years, but when I saw that one, I got decided in 15 minutes.
Unfortunatly, I have no more time for her and I got too many cars, so I would like to sell her to a careful owner.
This is chassis number 13016, one of the very first road cars of this series, produced in 1979.
It was originally sold to the ambassador of the UAE (United Arabian Emirates) in Lodon, Mahdi Al Tajir. This first owner was one of the main personalities of the Emirates, now living in the UK and ranking among the wealthiest citizens of the UK and of the world (just google this name if you want to know more).
The car was then sent to Australia, until 2001 when it was shipped back. It is thus rustfree due to the climate over there + I always ofcourse kept it garaged ever since (NB: the Lagonda body was mostly alloy, but many parts are steel, which can cause rust, especially for cars lying in the UK).
I purchased it in summer 2002 and took it back to France afterwards. It still carries UK plates and documents, but it is no longer taxed or MoTed.
Service history:
The car still has its original user's manual and service manual + the original electrical wiring diagram.
I have no service history prior to the date of my purchase, except one bill concerning the overhaul of the Air Conditionning.
Ever since 2002, I had it maitained by a former AML mechanics, who cares after lot's of Paris Aston, in Courbevoie.
The Lagondas have pretty poor reputation, due to some electrical problems. This one only required so far minot maintenance and proved to be extremely reliable.
The only problem occured with a faulty relay which caused lights and fans breakdown. It has been changed together with other relays and now the car works as before.
Engine and mechanics:
The engine does not suffer any weakness, its the well known Aston 5,4L V8, with carburettors. Starts and runs perfect.
The water pump has just been changed (nov 2006), together with the engine silent blocs. Oil and filter service also performed in Nov.
The car does not leak any engine oil, but the gearbox joint is dropping a few tears (changing it is not worth so far). Fuel consumption is reasonable, as much as any V8 of that time, no more. Just bear in mind that the gas tank is... 128 liters!!
Body / paint:
The paint is Tourmaline blue. The body has no knocks but a few scratches, easy to erase. No rust as I said.
Bumpers have no knocks either.
The color combination is extremely nice, and the paint looks brighter than on the pictures.
The tyres are whitewall Pirellis, with many miles still to go.
Interior:
The Leather is superb, the interior of the first series style is, in my opinion, the best of the Lagondas series.
Electic seats work all.
The ceiling looks a little bit distended, as it occurs on most of theses cars.
The digital dashboard works I would say almost perfectly, which is rare. It has been fixed in 1991, and all the indications work. Meanwhile, the oil temparature is unsteady, but, according to other Lagondas owners, it happens to be a common fault on such cars. The minutes of the time do not show up, even though the watch works (hours and tens of minutes).
Faults:
The AirCo still blows ice cold, but the heating does not work. I did not intend to fix that, since I do not use the car often in chilly weather conditions.
The cruise control does not work.
The electric device for opening the boot and the gas tank filler do not work, they have to be opened manually.
For both of the above, I never intended either to fix.
The front passenger window moves a bit slowly.
The drivers mirror is hard to adjust (the glass is unsealed), but the car comes with a brand new AML genuine mirror that will have to be fitted and painted.
